Nice Testimonial from a New In Home Computer Virus Removal Client in Hawaii Kai

"In an attempt to download a PC game for my son I was duped by a internet scam. I was pretty stressed about it and didn't have the time to deal with my PC.

Lo and behold,  as if by Divine appointment,  I bumped into Rick at my workplace.  Rick listened to my account of what happened and immediately took it with a sense of urgency.  Rick dropped what he was doing and drove to my residence and fixed my computer problem in a jiffy. Everything's good.

Now my computer runs quicker and my stress is gone. I will definitely call Rick again for all my computer needs."

I was at Best Buy for one of my shop buy pickup in home computer setup clients in Honolulu Hawaii. He wanted a desktop computer and is a typical end computer user who surfs the internet, checks email and after my instructions, uses Microsoft Office online for free. Therefore I was looking to spend from $250 to $350. I knew the specs needed for these basic functions. I couldn't find anything in the price range I wanted for my in home computer client.

http://makemycomputerfasterc.us/index.php/topic,15.0.html#.PleaseShareToSocialGroupsByCopyingFromTheLinkUp

So, using my smart cell phone I went online to the Best Buy website. In the pick up today section found the same computer on the shelf for $398 online for $329! I knew Best Buy honored those prices if they were cheaper.

Would You Like a Security Package with That?

“No because since Windows 8 Microsoft has very good antivirus software built in called Windows Defender.”

They don't bother mentioning that. If it's not too expensive I get the one year hardware only warranty. This way my in home computer client or I can take the computer to Best Buy and THEY will ship it off If THEY can't fix it. My client or I can then pick it up at Best Buy after they call.

To Save More Money Buying Your Computer Do This

Visit my website for discount cash back gift cards

Follow the directions to double or even triple dip on the cash back

Go to the website in my directions

From there go to the Gift Card Mall

Search Best Buy and buy an eGift Card

Yes I get a little something when you folks do that so thank you for supporting my efforts.

Recovered Files and Photos from a Crashed Computer in Honolulu #InHomeComputerDataRecoveryHonolulu #FreeComputerTips by in home computer, tablet and smart cell phone tutor, mobile virus removal and repair specialist, dual certified teacher J. This in home computer data recovery client had been talking months about getting a new laptop computer. When I wasn’t even able to get her crashed computer to read one of her profiles with a live Ubuntu flashdrive. I just looked at my computer client and said,

“You know that computer you’ve been talking about getting? It’s time.”

In the meantime, my in home computer data recovery client hadn’t backed up her important work files with an external backup or through Google Drive, so it was my job to recover as much as I could of her work files.

Warning - Don’t Try This Unless You Want to Take a Chance on Damaging Your Computer

I took her hard drive out. The hard drive is the storage device used to store files and run programs and applications. I then used an adapter to connect her hard drive to my own computer. In doing that I was able to recover quite a bit of files. I didn’t drag and drop files to a flash drive. Instead I used an excellent old dos command called xcopy in something called a batch file. I put the file on the flash drive and wrote this command

Code: [Select]
xcopy “c:\users\*.* \ComputerBackup\” /s/y/i/c/e/d

That copied all the user profiles and all files from the user profiles including Desktops and Documents folders to the folder in the flash ComputerBackup. The command line program also also continued on errors and didn’t overwrite any files or photos unless they were newer.

Results

I was able to recover a significant amount of files for my in home computer data recovery client. When I setup her new computer for her I setup Google Drive on her desktop and showed her how to store files in that folder for automatic syncs to the cloud in Google Drive.

Keep your important work files and photos backed up. In my line of work I always say, “It’s not if your computer, tablet or cell phone will crash. It when.”

A few of these links I get paid if you order your computer wants and needs from them. Feel free to support my efforts with my thanks.

Windows 10 Update Breaks Windows Mail #InHomeComputerPhoneTabletSetupHonolulu  #FreeComputerTips by in home computer, tablet and smart cell phone tutor, mobile virus removal and repair specialist, dual certified teacher J. If you're using Windows Mail a recent huge Windows update caused a glitch in Windows Mail.  When you click a link in the email program the application closes. I seem to recall the link was to check for email.

It was a bit of a pain to fix. I had to go into the Power Shell to uninstall Windows Mail and the calendar.  Then go into the Microsoft store to reinstall it. If you're having that problem you're going to have to hire someone such as myself to make a house call or help you remotely. It is possible the next update may fix the problem as well. Those take a bit of time usually.

I’ve recently had two in home computer setup calls which required Microsoft Office. My clients were on tight budgets so I told them about and set up for them one of the four free Microsoft Office replacements I’ll mention below.

Microsoft Office Replace for Non-Windows Operating Systems

http://makemycomputerfasterc.us/index.php/topic,10.0.html#.PleaseShareWithSocialGroupsByCopyingFromLinkUp

As I mentioned in a previous in home computer setup article. I took an old computer and gave it new life by installing a high speed, virus free operating system called Ubuntu. The fast, efficient and secure computer operating system came built in with some great free programs.  Note I didn't state trial programs which means you have to pay to keep using them. I said FREE programs and applications.

One of these programs is LibreOffice.  A great Microsoft Office replacement which can import and export Microsoft documents from Word To PowerPoint. LibreOffice is actually a product of OpenOffice,  which is the next program on our list.

OpenOffice

OpenOffice is cross platform. That means it has versions for about any operating system including Microsoft Windows. Again you can import and export Microsoft documents as well as use it's own format.  The OpenOffice format is so popular it's an option in both Google Drive and OneDrive.

Cloud Replacements for Microsoft Office

The cloud,  for those that don't know, is simply a website connected to you by the internet. Therefore working in the cloud and storing files and photos in the cloud is a fancy way of stating you're doing your work and storing files on a website online.

As most of you know,  because a very in demand in home computer service I offer, data recovery of crashed computers is always in the back of my mind,  I'm a backup fanatic. You should always have important files and photos stored in more than one place. Storing your important work files and photos in the cloud and syncing it to your computer is an easy way to do that.

In fact I just saw an in home computer data recovery client here in Honolulu. Some antivirus software program told him click Refresh to gain more storage space on his computer. Well, it was a trusted antivirus program so he did just that and lost all of his files and photos, EXCEPT for files and photos I had synced using Google Drive cloud backup. I reinstalled Google Drive, made sure the sync folder was on my data recovery client’s computer desktop and he had ALL his important files and folders back on his computer that I had setup for Google Drive sync reappeared!

Quick backup tip for you. Don't keep your storage device plugged into your computer.  If your computer gets a power surge such as from a lightning storm, it could also fry your backup storage device.

You Can Use Multiple Devices to Access The Same File!

Another great advantage with working in the cloud. No more making sure you’re on the correct computer or making sure the email attachment has the most recent up to date changes. Phones to complete operating system computers can be used to access the same file.

Some of my in home computer tutoring clients thought they had to on the same computer to check their website based gmail and Yahoo email. Another great and very old example of working in the cloud before the term cloud computing had even been heard of by the general public!

Google Drive Office Suite

I like Google Drive. Google provides an easy way to sync your files and photos primarily through the use of a special folder on your desktop. Google gives you 15 gigabytes of free online (cloud) storage. More importantly to this topic Google Drive includes a free office suite available to you free with your free Google  (Gmail) account. I've seen it grow myself into a fairly powerful office suite compatible with both Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.

I'm writing a great deal of this computer help article on my Android phone.  Another nice feature of working in the cloud. On most Android phones Google Drive comes built into the phone. Because I’m working in the cloud (check your data plan), I’m working on the same file ALL THE TIME regardless which device I’m using. For example, I’m presently at McDonald’s using my old netbook computer I sped up and secured with the easy to install Ubuntu computer operating system. Even though I’m using my netbook computer, I’m in the same cloud working on the same file.

OneDrive by Microsoft!

If you are just a Microsoft Office fanatic and MUST use Microsoft, yet are frugal like me or just don’t have the money to buy the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft has an online version of its office suite FREE! One of the great things Microsoft did with its cloud version of its office suite was to make it look very similar to the computer software based version. So for those of you who just don’t like change, but want a free office suite compatible with Microsoft’s office suite USE MICROSOFT’S OFFICE SUITE in the cloud.

If The Microsoft Office Suite is Online Why Did You Mention It Last?

The first time I wrote a computer help article on using the cloud it wasn’t last. Then Microsoft dropped it’s free cloud storage from 15gb to 5 gigabytes. That was a reduction by THREE TIMES the amount of cloud storage space for photos and work files. All companies have a right to earn a profit (including me some days :-) ), but my own personal opinion was that was a bit overboard and short-sighted. I’m sure others feel differently and I’d love to hear your opinion.

Conclusion

What else can I add? Yes a few links in this article will make me a little money and help support my efforts. I’m available for questions and computer support article requests as well as in home and remote computer support. Just email me at ComputerHelp808@gmail.com

Yet Another Reason for Having Your Own Domain Name by internet business development expert SEO specialist, Local SEO specialist, sales-psychology expert, author and dual certified teacher J. Richard Kirkham B.Sc.
computerhelp808@gmail.com  #FreeInternetMarketingTips

I just received notification from Amazon that a feature I'd been using was closing. Confirming a need for your own domain name.

I know some of you may not know what a domain name is. A domain name is a fancy word for website address. Since the in home computer tutor and website designer is giving a free lesson, I'll share this one as well, URL. URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. I've heard other explanations too, but it's just a slightly geekier name for website address. Both are commonly used so get used to them if you have an online business.

Thanks for The Free Lesson Rick, But Why Do I Need a Domain?

http://makemycomputerfasterc.us/index.php/topic,8.msg8.html#ShareWithSocialGroupsByCopyingFromTheLinkUp

I mentioned earlier a feature in Amazon closing. This is just one example in a long line of people losing months or even years of promotion when a company is bought out and changes its domain, a company's subdomain name services are dropped or changed or in this case of Amazon, their aStore feature is dropped.

Thanks Rick, But The MLM Company I'm With Gives Me a Website

This is me venting. Did you not just read what I wrote above? Your website address is you.companynamedotcom right? When I was promoting Lifemax I had enough confidence in the company to promote 2ourhealth.lifemaxdotnet until I built my own website AND I GOT CAUGHT! Ok done venting, further explanation time. Quixtar by Amway was dropped, Lifemax became Genesis Pure, Prepaid Legal became Legal Shield. Everyone of these changes affected the thousands of people marketing and promoting the subdomains the company gave them.

What I Did...

With Lifemax I had my own website with my own domain designed as a presell and to get email addresses of those interested in health food. I even made a redirect to Lifemax so I didn't lose any marketing time after building my website just in case something happened. You see once a prospect leaves your website, you lose control. When the company changed it's domain and therefore sub domains all I had to do was go inside one webpage and change the website address where it pointed. The promoting I did of the subdomain before building my website was just lost.

When Amazon dropped its aStore feature, which I loved, they had a couple solutions. All I had to do was go into a webpage I'd made http://computerhelp808.com/AmazonElectronics and point the redirect to the solution I chose! I didn't have to try to change hundreds of links on Facebook and Twitter since I had always used that one webpage in my promotions. Are you starting to get it now? If you're in business for the long haul, you need your own domain.

When Prepaid Legal became Legal Shield I had a slightly different method of handling the change. I'm using a domain service called Namecheap. Another free lesson for you this time on domains and website design. ALWAYS use two different companies for your domain and hosting your website!. The link is an article I wrote on the subject, but basically you're giving a company too much power over you if they have both your domain and website. I use Namecheap for all my domains whether hosted by my preferred website hosting or using a redirect. A redirect means when someone clicks or types the website in it goes to a different website. I had a redirect for prepaid legal. When they changed their name to Legal Shield all I had to do was go into Namecheap and change where http://LawFirmInMyPocket.com actually landed when it was clicked on or typed into an internet browser. Go ahead and try it I'll wait right here.

The amount of marketing time wasted without my own domain would have been astronomical! Not only that, when you're ready to [http://BetterThanAWebsite.com]get your website[/url], you'll already have a domain you've been marketing and promoting already well established!

Rick, I Don't Know How to Get a Domain Nor How to Point It!

As I say to my in home computer tutoring and repair clients and my automated income and SEO website design clients, "Don't worry, you have a Rick."

I'll setup a domain and redirect for you for a $30.00 setup fee and $2.95 per month. Now you don't have to know what to do you just need my email address. ComputerHelp808@gmail.com

Just had an in home computer client call me about this so I thought I'd share this information. Everything you need. The WiFi network name (SSID) and the password are both on the back of the modem. For HawaiianTel it always starts with HT

The Wifi key is the network password.

That's all you need assuming you know how to setup your WiFi in general. If not, call me for a house call.
